Born on April 27, 1943, in Yellow Creek, West Virginia, Joyce was the daughter of the late James Carlos and Mary (Rogers) Wilson. She was a woman who understood the importance of family, service, and being there for the people she loved.

Throughout her lifetime, Joyce dedicated herself wholeheartedly to both her family and her career. Her commitment to others extended into her professional life, where she worked in various roles, including serving as a secretary for the Medina County Career Center, Richardson Farms in Medina, Farmers Insurance in Middleburg Heights, and Western Reserve Insurance in Wooster. She also served as a postal carrier in Seville, earning the respect of those who knew her for her reliability and strong work ethic.
